Making the Connection 2011: Translating Environmental Health Research into Clinical Practice and Prevention
PSR Wisconsin organized this major conference in Madison, drawing 90 health care professionals and activists from around the state. The CME conference featured many distinguished physicians and researchers, including Ruth Etzel from the World Health Organization, Ted Schettler from the Science and Environment Health Network, and Jonathan Patz , Director of the UW-Madison Global Health Institute. In addition to up-to-date environmental health research, there were workshops on public health advocacy, instituting an environmental health curriculum in medical schools, and how to develop a state-wide environmental health network.
Making the Connection 2011 provided an opportunity to revitalize the Wisconsin Environmental Health Network (WEHN). The aim of WEHN is twofold : To educate clinicians about environmental health and to advocate for strict regulation of toxins and environmental pollution.
