UW HSLC accessibility services

For visitors to the Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC), accessibility services and accommodations are designed to ensure seamless public access to the building's public areas, events, and resources like the Ebling Library.

Facility Access & Parking

  • Accessible Entrances: The main entrance of the HSLC is fully accessible with automatic power-assist doors.

  • Visitor Parking: Accessible parking spaces for visitors with DMV-issued disabled permits are located nearby in Lot 75 (McClain Athletic Facility) and Lot 60. Drop-offs can be made directly at the front turnaround.

  • Elevators: Public elevators serve all floors of the facility and include braille signage and audible floor indicators.

Public Restrooms & Amenities

  • Wheelchair-Accessible Stalls: Available in all multi-stall restrooms throughout the building (located on the south side near the elevators and on the 1st floor near the North Entrance).

  • All-Gender / Single-Occupancy Restrooms: Visitors seeking a private, locking restroom can use Room 1351 (1st floor near the UW Bookstore) or Room 2311 (2nd floor inside the Ebling Library entrance).

Event Accommodations

If you are attending a public lecture, workshop, or event at the HSLC:

  • Requesting Accommodations: Sign language interpreting, real-time captioning (CART), or alternative format materials should be requested through the specific department or group hosting the event.

  • Contact Timeline: It is highly recommended to submit accommodation requests at least two weeks in advance of the event date.

  • Public Seating: Lecture halls and classrooms within the HSLC feature designated wheelchair-accessible seating areas and companion seating.

Reporting a Barrier

If you encounter a physical or digital accessibility issue during your visit, you can report it to campus authorities using the UW-Madison Report a Barrier Tool.

Are you attending a specific event at the HSLC, or do you need assistance navigating parking and directions for an upcoming visit?
